Just took delivery of some Behringer XM 8500 Vocal Mikes, i bought these cheap mikes after reading good things in reviews, they are supposed to be as good as Shure SM 58's ( Yeah Right ).

I must admit i use a lot of Behringer gear, its well priced and works very well both for live and studio.

Back to the XM 8500, i plugged it into the desk, got some levels up and have to admit its good, damn good ! I put an SM58 in the next channel and the only difference was the XM 8500 was much louder with less feedback, and was crystal clear needing less EQ on the desk.
This mike sells for an incredible 16.95 as apposed to the SM 58 which costs 120.00.
At this price i'm gonna get some more.

We also use a few behringer Ultra-DI Box's for live and in the studio, Again very cheap, but the quality is very impressive.

John x

Glad the Behringer stuff's working out for you! There's nothing quite like finding some quality gear by looking outside the box of you Shures and Sennheisers...

I use a bit of Behringer gear as well, my Ultrabass BX1200 has never let me down live, and I also use a V-Tone 212 guitar amp. That hasn't got quite the sound and power I need, and it didn't sound very good when we tried to record with it but hey, it does the job, and I'm asking a lot for a solid-state amp anyway. At least I can't blow any valves!

Just an update really, at a recent gig we did we decided to give the artists a choice of mic during sound check, SM 58, SM 57, AKG, and the Behringer 8500, guess what ? everyone except one went for the 8500, during the night i had no probs with feedback apart from a little boom which was my fault, the mike was crystal clear, i actually recorded the night through the desk and i just cant fault the vocal sound.

Next on my list for the studio will be
Behringer rack graphic
Behringer rack multi effects
Behringer Aural Exciter
Plus a couple more 8500's
